Multiple monitors and speed bumps

The most useful thing to come out of my (lengthy) lunch with Hanad today (besides some rants on Mac OS X, and sloppy code) was an amusing metaphor for the gaps between our multiple monitors. “Sliding from one monitor to another is like going over a speed bump.”

New water pump

Well the old water pump died this weekend. Bought a new “deep well pump” even though I have, most likely, a shallow well. Better to err on the side of more-power-than-needed. It cost about $200 for the parts. Thank you Jeff, for installing it all and showing me what to do in the future.
