You Suck
… by Christopher Moore. It’s a book. Not a proclamation.
I listened to this audio book and laughed out loud in the car for most of it. It’s a modern-day vampire story with hip characters and snappy dialog. The character Abby Normal steals the show for me. Susan Bennett reads the unabridged novel with a flair and zeal I have rarely heard in the hundreds of books I’ve listened to. I’ll be looking for other stuff she’s read.
Christopher Moore has an interview at the end of the final CD and I learned that he has both long and short novels, and both serious and light hearted ones (as this one is). I’ll have to check out more of his stuff also.
I will admit, that the ending left me disappointed. It just fell flat for me. I even re-listened to the final 20 minutes or so in case I missed something but still either didn’t get it or got it and thought it was dumb. I’m willing to concede the poor ending and still give this a high grade considering the sheer volume of laughs I got from Abby’s Valley Girl cum Goth child dialog.

I used to love audio book when we travel across country, some are so funny. Guess I will have to check out “You Suck” for our trips to Idaho. They sure to make time fly don’t they?

Do you have a long commute? Or is it when you ride? I’m just sayin’…if you’ve listened to hundreds of books on tape…!

I read A Dirty Job for the book binge and really enjoyed it. I think you’d also find Lamb a really funny read (or listen).
