Reconnecting with the road
Miles rode: 13.75

It’s been six days since a run or ride. I just needed to get out for a little spin and reconnect with the road. This is my comfort loop, well, one of them. I guess I have two. This one, the Gailor/Strakos/Locust Grove loop. And a 30 miler that loops south east to West River Road, north along the river, then back south west to the start.
My time out on the road in the near future will be shorter than usual given other responsibilities demanding my attention. If I do get outside, it’ll no doubt be for short, recharging activities. I need these recharges to keep sane. Describing my life right now would be an exercise in frustration, in that I don’t think I could string together the right set of words to accomplish the feat.
Why is it exercise can be such a comfort or salve when stressed? It seems counterintuitive, that laboring on the pedals or in running shoes should make you feel refreshed. But it does.
This is a car that’s been parked on the same patch of pasture for the last umpteen years. It’s seen countless winters and summers. I pass it every time and my eye strays to its classic styling. To get this close up photo I had to hop a barbed wire fence–and with just a thing layer of lycra/spandex on. I was very careful with the hopping. Its tail lights carefully shaped in hyperbole and side trim resplendent in chrome. Even in its decay it’s an amazing piece of art. I think this car is artistic BECAUSE of its decay. Entropy is winning this silent battle.

Glad you did get a chance to get out and exercise if that’s what relieves your stress. I know to me, it would give me stress, but maybe not in my younger days.
I guess when you are running or biking your mind can just drift and any issues going on in your life are pushed deeper in your mind to deal with later on. It’s the fresh air and doing what you love that relaxes you and that’s good.
Sorry you seem to have too much going one in your life right now. Here’s hoping that soon all will balance our and you can just relax and roll with the flow.
I agree that car is a piece of art, amazing it’s still in one piece isn’t it? I know out here it would have been stripped clean, crazy folks running around this place, or any city for that matter.
Take a deep breath, and here’s hoping you have a great day

I think exercise can “center” you somehow. I think it helps clear all the junk out of your mind and just focus on you and the road. Hope it helped you recharge.

Welcome back to the light. I was going to call you Saturday to see if you wanted to go out on the test ride, But I remembered your previous engagement in time not to annoy you.
