Willard Mountain
Miles rode: 44.2
There’s still snow on Willard Mountain! It’s not THAT high. I guess it IS shaded quite a bit on the north side.
John & I headed out for a 40-45 miler including a climb up Willard on Sunday afternoon (a week ago… I know, I know, it took this long to post?!). It was overcast, but not too threatening. Later it rains mildly for most of our ride. A morose, grey, messy rain. We were pretty filthy by the time we got home. Home to sunny skies and warmer temperatures, of course.
It was an easy ride for me–I was jabbering away for most of it and didn’t even notice the three hours go by or the cold wet feet. John had double-duty, that of managing the Willard climb, among others, and tolerating my chatty mood. Luckily, temperature-wise, it warmed slightly as the day waned, otherwise I might have been miserable without my shoe covers and heat packs for the toes.

44.2 miles, oh my gosh, how on earth do you do it?? Oh to be young!!! Hell who am I kidding, even when I was young, I could never do that.
When we lived in Germany we used to “family bike ride” all the time. Oh yeah I was at the rear of the line!!!! The only thing that did keep me going was that yummy strawberry field we would ride through. yeah lots of rest stops there to eat!!!! But still never 44.2 miles, no way. Like I have said before I so admire your stamina!!
