Anthony’s ride and BBQ

The group Anthony requisitioned a gorgeous day for our ride and BBQ. John, Kyle, Nick and I showed up and were greeted by a smiling little girl named Hailey. Shannon and Kenny also traveled down to spend a few hours with Annette and Hailey. Hailey’s getting so big! She’ll be out biking with us in no time!

We went on a casual 35 miler around his neighborhood which included a scamper up Tracey Road with a descent down Blodgett. Nick was right there beside me proving his mettle to nearly the top of Tracey.

Below is the descent video. John and Anthony are ahead of me in the video–they hit 50.2 mph. I drifted back from them slightly so I estimate I did about 48-49 mph for a maximum speed. The road isn’t actually that bumpy, it’s just that it’s hard to hold the camera AND maintain a safe grip on the handlebars going at that speed. At slower speeds I can lift my camera arm off my aero bar pads and smooth out the video significantly. Not so much when going 50. Watching it again, I realize, it’s not a very exciting video… so those of you not hip to the whole cycling thing may be only mildly amused.

a MERE 35 mile ride, oh my how you put me to shame. Loved the video, even my hubby watched it with me, felt like we were there. The corners scared me, I was afraid you wouldn’t get around them you were going so fast. Dumb on my part cause I knew you were okay, you posted the video and pics hahaha. See I get right into your blogs huh???
    Have a good one!!

Okay, I orginally thought you wrote 3.5 miles until I read Sherry’s comment. I still would be terrified to go 50mph on a bike. I am frightened of loose gravel and falling. So I love the video! That way, I live vicariously through you.
    Have fun!
