A morning run

First run in daylight in over a month. Bright daylight. Squint-against-the-glare kind of daylight. Now I don’t know about you but walking out into sudden bright light makes me sneeze. I know, it’s weird. But it just does. Amazingly I managed to avoid the sneeze all run long.

I don’t know about this NOT running at night stuff. My body seems used to 6 or 7pm starts and a 10am start just wasn’t cuttin’ it. No energy, no speed (not that I ever have much speed).

And the cold! You guys haven’t heard me complain about the cold much and here I am talking about a 10am-bright-ass-sunlit day! Stupid wind. Most of my run was with the wind to my back or side so it wasn’t TOO, too bad.

Running at night has become routine and comfortable. The decreased input to the senses are a welcome relief to a busy day of work. Today, the sun only served to provide stark crisp light. No warmth. No comfort. Running at night feels less social even though I already run alone. Running at night feels more intimate.

Today I spent some quality time with my Brother-in-Law, James. We don’t spend enough time together, but we’re starting to. I’m hoping we get to the point where we look back on the years and years we’ve known each other and think “it was stupid of us NOT to have become better friends sooner.” Time will tell.

I arrived at his house post-bathroom tile installation and mid-safety-latch hookup. Kellie, if he missed some latches, you can blame me. I think he was feeling guilty for keeping us from heading out for some pool or whatever. Plus I think I was talking his ear off–very unlike me.

Play some pool. Have some dinner at the Halfmoon Diner. Burger and Patty melts for us. Delicious and fattening. The best kind. Though, I couldn’t finish mine–cutting back on quantities, I think, has shrunken my stomach a tad. Back to his house and find lots of unhappy surprises on the carpet from Baylee. Moments later Mommy and Baby show up. I know everyone (except me) must be exhausted from their day so I do what I can to help. I leave wishing I could help more and knowing they still have a lot of work ahead.

Thanks for stopping by! I love running at night for the same reasons, but it does sometimes feel good to go out early on a weekend morning and put in a good long run - that is, when you know it’s a good one!

You did more than enough to help :) And, I hope you and James get more hang time with each other. I know he had a good time and said he wants to make plans again.
